Keeping your house clean is very important. While sweeping and vacuuming will remove dirt from your floors, mopping is also a big part. The art of mopping a floor is a simple process, but some tips can help you get the job done faster.

1. Clear the Area

Before you start to mop, you must do some preparation. It is important to remove all furniture such as tables, chairs and throw rugs. This will make sure that you can reach every spot on the floor. After you finish mopping your floor you need to wait for a while until it dries.

2. Sweep the Floor Before You Mop

Never skip this step because mopping on its own won't do any good.

3. Use Warm Water

After you are prepared to mop your floor, you should mix your cleanser with warm water. Fill the bucket with water half-way so that the mop can dive in the water. If you have a dried out mop, then it will need to soak in the warm water before you begin cleaning.

4. Mop in Sections

Mopping floors in small sections can make getting rid of grime build up and debris easier. When you break the floor up into sections, you should only wipe the floor with the mop three to four times so that the cleanser is evenly spread on the floor.

5. Rinse and Wring Out Your Mop

Another tip to remember is to rinser and wring your mop out when you finish a section. This is crucial so that you don't spread dirt from one area to another.

6. Change Your Cleaner

When you mop your floor, your cleaning solution can become visibly dirty, and it can get darker. Cleaning solution should be changed when you notice that your water has become visibly dirty; this will make sure that you are only using clean solution to mop your floor.

7. Soak the Mop

Another important tip for effective cleaning is to soak your mop in the cleaning solution and then begin to wipe another section of the floor. Each time you wipe a section you repeat these steps until you have the whole floor clean.

8. Let the Floor Air Dry and Hang the Mop

When you finish mopping the floor, you should open a window or a door to let the floor air dry.  Then you can begin to move your furniture back to where it belongs. It is important to also hang the mop when you are finished. Leaving the mop in the bucket will cause it to smell because it will be filled with dirt and grime. Remember to always dump your water into the toilet and not the kitchen sink where you prepare your food.

Conclusion

Mopping floors should be a part of your cleaning routine and the tips above will help you get the best results when you mop your floor. Keeping your floors clean can prevent bacteria and keep mold out of your house resulting therefore to a clean home.
