What you need to do

- However, if your hood filter is metal, fill a large pot with water and just before boiling, add 1/2 cup baking soda to the water. slowly because baking soda will make the water foam abruptly.
- Then, dip half the filter in the water and leave it there for a while until you see the fat dissolve. Afterward, place the hood filter on the other side and repeat the same process.
- Allow the filter to dry well before putting it back in place.
Note: Because the filter will be very hot, hold it with a kitchen glove or towel.
